This post is to share my growing enthusiasm for this weekend’s event to celebrate the UN’s International Women’s Day!  The process of creating this “mini-retreat” with a handful of other talented women has given me eyes to see and celebrate the gifts women offer in the realm of spirit and religion.  This event is for women and men to celebrate the spiritual heroines around and within us.  There will be story, meditation, art and ritual… and, of course, food.

This is a sampling of prayer I wrote for our celebration:

May we stand taller than the belittling crowd.  Amen

May we breathe courage in an atmosphere of fear.  Amen.

May we love more fiercely than prowling hate.  Amen.

And may our light transform any darkness that threatens the dignity of God’s beloved.  Amen.
